Welcome to the site of the New Zealand Amateur Winemakers and Brewers Federation.
The NZ Amateur Winemakers and Brewers Federation is an organisation that consists of Clubs throughout New Zealand, that run their own affairs but come together every two years for the Federations National Competition and delegates meetings. These gatherings are hosted in turn by the three Regions that the country is divided into i.e. Northern, Central and Southern. In the alternate years the regions hold their own competitions and delegates meetings. To enter either of these events one must be a financial member of a Club that is affiliated to the Federation.
As well as the NZ Amateur Winemakers and Brewers Federation and the individual Clubs, there are Judges Guilds associated with each Region, that belong to the National Judges Guild, that is also associated to the Federation. Some of the aims from the National Constitution explain the general purpose of the organisation as a whole. For example;
- To promote amateur winemaking and brewing in New Zealand.
- To facilitate the exchange of information on winemaking and brewing and club activities.
- To promote training and accreditation of Judges for all levels of competition.
In short Clubs should accommodate people with all levels of skill in brewing and winemaking and endeavour to give them guidance, encouragement and support to develop their skill level to produce good quality wines and beers.
